Is with great joy and honor that ” Amici del Monumentale embrace the cause of D Major TV. Today, the two Presidents, Carla de Bernardi, President of the “Amici del Monumentale” and Alida Altemburg, President of “D Major – Space for Classic”, met to seal the partnership, in art and classic music sharing.

The Association of “Friends of the Monumental Cemetery” was born on March 27, 2013 to protect, promote, enhance and raise awareness of the wealth of art kept in the leafy avenues of the most important cemetery in Milan, a real open-air museum.
The twelve bizarre Founding Members, including Laura Monastier, Ettore Signori, Olga, Emma Treves, Aurelio Stanzione, husband of the vice president and Francis Michelon, son of the same, Alberto Pasquali who, at least at the moment, abandoned for love and Claudio Balzarotti group, we all know how great friend of the president gather around a round table on March 23 at 18.30.
The brilliant idea was taken on a winter Sunday in front of a glass of wine on brilliant and unexpected suggestion Aurelio is, and remains, to all intents and purposes the “most guilty” and that all members, and especially volunteers, that they can only thanks.
The adventure was not, in any case, an improvisation but the result of research by Carla De Bernardi and Lalla Fumagalli on the field, in archives and in all the libraries in Milan, which began in 2010, who in December 2013 would have produced a illustrated guide in Italian and English.
That afternoon in early spring, then, our two “elderly but young girls” are named president and vice president on the spot and, aware that they have a daunting task but charming, are put to work immediately.

The mission of this wonderful association is to preserve the historical and artistic heritage of the city of Milan, organizing events, walks, meetings and concerts.

There are many classical musicians buried here starting right from Toscanini and Horowitz, Arrigo Boito and many others that we will reveal during the time with articles, narrated by the voice of Carla de Bernardi, deep knowledge of the cemetery and a great book out of Toscanini.

A flower on the grave of Arturo Toscanini, where he is also buried the famous pianist Vladimir Horowitz to seal the collaboration between the ” Friend’s of Monumental Cemetery” (Amici del Monumentale) and D Major- Space for Classic.

“God tells me how the music should sound, but you stand in the way.” Arturo Toscanini

Toscanini worked with many great singers and musicians throughout his career, but few impressed him as much as Vladimir Horowitz. They worked together a number of times and recorded Brahms’ second piano concerto and Tchaikovsky’s first piano concerto with the NBC Symphony for RCA Victor. Horowitz also became close to Toscanini and his family. In 1933, Wanda Toscanini married Horowitz, with the conductor’s blessings and warnings. It was Wanda’s daughter, Sonia, who was once photographed by Life playing with the conductor

Vladimir Horowitz died on November 5, 1989 in New York City of a heart attack, aged 86. He was buried in the Toscanini family tomb in the Cimitero MonumentaleMilan, Italy.

“My future is in my past and my past is my present. I must now make the present my future.” Vladimir Horowitz.

The two Presidents talk about the new prolific collaboration between classic music and arts. Soon some news!
