Martina Barlotta, a guitarist born in 1996, “ shows great experience and a captivating presence on stage”(Uppsala International Guitarrfest – 2016); “ Over and above her technical ability, she is to be appreciated for her expressionist ability and an unexpected scenic presence in an artist of only 19 years old” – M. She started her guitar studies at the age of six with M. Mirko Pieri. At middle school she meets M. Fabio Montomoli and continues her studies at the “Istituto Comunale P.Giannetti” in Grosseto.,
During the academic year 2010/2011, at only fourteen years old, she is accepted, having coming first, at the Santa Cecilia Conservatory in Rome under the guide of M. Arturo Tallini where she graduates at 19 with maximum marks, and honour.
She continues to perfect her studies from July 2012 to July 2015 at the famous “Accademia Musicale Chigiana” in Siena where she attends courses to perfect her technique under the guide of M. Oscar Ghiglia, obtaining every year diplomas with merit and taking part in the final concert.
In June 2015 she is accepted as first in the merit results to the Master in Konzertfach guitar instrumental at the “Universität Mozarteum” in Salzburg where she is currently attending the second year under the tuition of M. Marco Tamayo.
She is further perfecting her performance at the “Segovia Guitar Academy” in Pordenone, Italy, with M. Paolo Pegoraro and Adriano del Sal.
Winner of the study grant at “Campus delle Arti”, 2013 and 2014, with prize concerts, the prize of the audience and recording and editing sessions at the famous recording company Musiktrasse in Rome.
In May 2015 she wins one of the four study grants offered by the Ministry for Education , University and Research for the “Premio Claudio Abbado”, established to valorise high level artistic training.
In June 2015 she is given a “Mention of Honour” for her rendering of the “Sequenza XI” for guitar by Luciano Berio at the 36th International Competition for Interpretation of contemporary music Valentino Bucchi, in Rome at the “Parco della Musica” Auditorium.
In October 2015 the Association “La Nuova Arca” honours her with a ceremony-concert in the Rectorate Aula Magna of the University of Turin, the International Prize “Arca d’Oro” Italy Young Talents 2015, a recognition given her by the great violinist and Master of ancient music, Jordi Savall.
In 2016 and 2017 the “Segovia Guitar Academy” presents her with a study grant given only to students who have distinguished themselves for their studies, talent and results obtained regarding the year of perfection.
In November 2016, as winner of the “International Guitar Festival Sanremo” – “Premio Casinò di Sanremo 2015”, she plays the “Concerto in La Maggiore” by Mauro Giuliani for guitar and orchestra , accompanied by the Symphony Orchestra of the City of Sanremo, conducted by M. Michele Spotti.
In the same month she holds a concert in Nuoro, Sardinia, for the second time after having been selected among 50 guitarists.
In December 2016 she plays the “Sequenza XI for Guitar” by Luciano Berio at the “Universität Mozarteum” in Salzburg in a concert organised by M. Simone Fontanelli. After Marco Tamayo, who played the “Sequenza” for the very first time at the “Universitat Mozarteum” in the presence of Luciano Berio, Martina has been the second person to play it.
Martina has been the first Italian guitarist to be invited to the Greek island Santorini to hold a duet concert and as a soloist in March 2017.
Among the competitions the following can be cited: Concorso Nazionale Riviera Etrusca (Absolute First), Concorso Nazionale di Esecuzione Musicale “Giulio Rospigliosi” (First Absolute), Concorso Internazionale di Chitarra Città di Fiuggi (First prize), Concorso Internazionale “Accademia Musicale Romana” (Absolute First), International Competition “Alirio Diaz” Young Guitarists Rome (First Absolute), International Guitar Festival Sanremo “Premio Casinò di Sanremo”, Claxica 2016 Competition of Execution (Second prize), Borguitar Festival (Third prize), Alessandria “49th International Guitar Competition Michele Pittaluga”, prize assigned by Inner Wheel, a female organisation of outstanding tradition, as best female guitarist classified at the competition, “Uppsala International Gitarrfest” (Third prize).
Martina regularly performs chamber music, with guitar, flute, violin, cello, piano and accordion.
She is also gaining great experience in the field of contemporary music with M. Arturo Tallini and with M. Simone Fontanelli, both as a soloist and in groups.
She has held numerous concerts and performances at exhibitions, among which: Basilica Santa Maria in Aracoeli in Campidoglio (Rome), Conservatory of Music Santa Cecilia (Rome), accompanied by the orchestra of the Conservatory of Santa Cecilia, conducted by M. Giuseppe Lanzetta, Circolo di Montecitorio (Rome), Lago D’Orta (Pettenasco), Orsanmichele Museum (Florence) with the Florentine Chamber Orchestra, Nuoro, Piazzola sul Brenta, Porto and Braga (Portugal), Paris (France), Reggio Emilia, Sassari, Sanremo “Casinò di Sanremo” accompanied by the Symphony Orchestra of Sanremo conducted by M. Michele Spotti, Santorini (Greece), Taranto, Tortona, Venice (Palazzo Cavagnis).
